What Does
Equitable Giving Circle Do?

Equitable Giving Circle is a Black women and femme led organization.

Yes, we live in Portland, and we are a femme-led, women-led and Black-led organization. Inspired by the women’s giving circles before us, the identity of our leadership is a driving factor in our commitment to building BIPOC community in Portland and our mission of making large economic deposits into the BIPOC economy in Portland while also encouraging community healing and immediate impact.

Supporting Community as a Black-led Organization in Portland

We established our organization with three key branches of work: eliminating food insecurity in Portland, supporting education and equitable housing in Portland, and providing wellness options for the PDX BIPOC community. Since 2020, we have served over 25,000 community members in the Portland metropolitan area. This includes those served in our staple projects like:

  • Weekly CSA farm share boxes and pantry items delivered directly to over 300 Portland BIPOC families

  • Weekly Free pantry where we serve over 100 families a week

  • 3 month emergency rent assistance and mortgage assistance grants for 60 Portland families

  • Backpacks and school supplies for over 1500 students in the Portland metro area

  • Redistribution of over 30,000 plants as a practice or introduction to reparations, inspired by the Underground Plant Trade.

Our home deliveries have been uninterrupted since our beginnings–through the pandemic, fires, snow, and heat waves. Our produce boxes are sourced from local BIPOC farmers, so our community impact hits twice as hard. We also have a weekly walk-in pantry for local Portland families. With your help, we can expand our fight against food insecurity in Portland and open a full-fledged free store open five days a week.

We also host large-scale community events as well as host workshops, game nights, and other events through out the year.

We are constantly seeking ways to deepen our community involvement and contribution. We have partnered with over 50 community-based organizations and are open to building collaborative relationships.
