Housing Assistance

Let us be clear: We, the Founders of the Equitable Giving Circle, believe that Housing is a Human Right.

In Portland, it is no secret that gentrification is–and has been–alive and well. It is a hardship that disproportionately impacts communities of color and single mothers facing income and housing insecurity. As part of our mission to end housing insecurity in Portland, we provide housing assistance for single mothers and their families.

We view our housing assistance program as part of our larger racial justice and mutual aid efforts in Portland. We want to support long-term equity building within the Portland BIPOC community, and we know that providing immediate housing assistance is only part of the solution.

But, it is an important part of the solution.

Since 2020, we have helped over 60 families with emergency housing assistance payments. We are looking for community members to help us grow this essential program.

Our average housing assistance payment is $4500. Help us keep single mothers and their children in stable environments by donating today. We are also looking for ways to build capital–social capital that allows us to find affordable housing options not tied to government subsidy. That can look like a lot of things. It could be identifying supportive shared community spaces and multi-family dwellings. It could also be adding EGC to your will and donating property or funds as part of your legacy.
